Hello Access Your Potential Community!

recently I published the following article about gratitude...
http://EzineArticles.com/?id=100430

Since that time I have been very conscious about looking for opportunities to observe all of the beauty in my life. I've made it a point to sit quietly at least once a day and think of all the aspects of my life that I am grateful for. I have verbalized my gratitude regularly and told the people dearest to me how much I love them and appreciate having them in my life. It isn't that I hadn't been doing these things before, but since writing the article "I Am Not My Stuff," I have been consciously making it a part of my daily habits.

The results so far can almost be summed up in one word: "peace."

There's something about consciously delighting in our life --even the small things, that bring a sense of calm. This is a fairly logical result but not one I had necessarily thought about before. It's ever so clear now though...

When we intentionally fill our hearts and mind with gratitude there's no room for all the clutter and nagging thoughts that serve to cause use unproductive stress. Gratitude makes us "present based" so that we have little room or reason to look back and regret or look forward and fear. We can only live "now" and appreciate that we get to have one more moment, one more day on the planet to touch the lives of others and to be touched. What a freeing experience.

We would love to hear how applying a daily practice of gratitude has impacted your life if you'd like to share.

Here's to the power and beauty of the simple act of being Thankful!

Happy Holidays to all!!!

What if?

How many times have we asked that question? What if I hadn’t entered into marriage at 18 years old? What if I had taken that job offer ten years ago? What if I hadn’t had children so young?

These questions have to do with choices we made that impacted the course of our lives. These are powerful questions to consider, not because we can turn back the hands of time, but because we hold the same power today, at this very moment to make choices that drive our life’s course. In fact, I assert that our thoughts and actions hold even more power today because we are more aware--we have witnessed and experienced the results, the true power, of the choices we make. It is a very human, but very limiting, temptation to want to dwell on the question, “what if…?” The truth is, that question is unanswerable and irrelevant at this point in our journey. Better to ask ourselves the promising and exciting question, “what now?”

So then, “What now?”

“I’ll go first!”

Now, in this moment, I choose to be present in my body and consider all of the riches I possess—my family, my friends, my job, my home, my ability to love and be loved. Now, in this instant, I make a conscious choice to awaken and experience life as I have never experienced life before—not frivolous or oblivious to the pain or difficulties that surround me, but fully accepting my place, my role as a fellow journeyer, a follower, a guide, a light (whatever is needed and I am able to provide in any given situation).

I commit to living my life to its’ utmost capacity. I will grieve, when those times come, without shame. I will dance with full abandon. I will love to my very core myself and those I have been bless with in this life—even if it breaks my heart at times. I will seek to grow, learn and stretch myself mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically.

What if I choose to embrace all that life has to offer—all the beauty, all the pain, all of the unpredictability—all of it? Well then I have gifted myself with an authentic life worth living!

"As the season of believing seems to wind down let me gently remind you that many dreams still wait in the wings. Many authentic sparks must be fanned before
passion performs her perfect work in you. Throw another log on the fire."
Sarah Ban Breathnach
